David Iglesias is a native East Texan who graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, where he was a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar and was on the Dean’s List. David then attended Texas Tech University School of Law on a Dean’s Scholarship where he served as the Editor in Chief of The Texas Bank Lawyer and research assistant to Professor Susan Saab Fortney.

After graduating from law school, David began his legal career as a law clerk to United States District Judge Sam R. Cummings, who presided over the Lubbock, Abilene, and San Angelo Divisions of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. This gave David the valuable opportunity to grow as a lawyer while working for a Court which reportedly presides over a larger land-area than any other federal district court in the nation.

Upon returning to East Texas, David worked as a litigator at Ramey & Flock, P.C., before joining Flowers Davis, PLLC. Now at the Iglesias Law Firm, PLLC, David represents counties, law enforcement officers, and elected officials in federal courts across the State. He regularly litigates and tries cases involving employment matters, and questions of constitutional law.

David has tried cases to juries in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and state courts across East Texas. David has also served as lead counsel of record in three cases before the United States Supreme Court, and as lead counsel of record in approximately 23 appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. David has had the privilege of arguing three cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, one of which was argued en banc.

David also dedicates his time to serving the Tyler and East Texas communities. David has served on the boards of directors of UT Health Northeast, the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, Marvin United Methodist Church, the Literacy Council of Tyler, the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County, Children’s Advocacy Center of East Texas, and CASA for Kids of East Texas. Through his service on the board of directors of the Tyler Independent School District Foundation, David partners with other Hispanic community leaders to advance bilingual education.

David is married to Kate McMinn Iglesias, formerly of Odessa. They are blessed with three sons (Sam, Ben, George) and a daughter (Dovie).
